Roberto Salvarezza

President of the Board

He holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the Universidad de Buenos Aires and is a Senior Researcher at CONICET. He has developed an outstanding scientific career in the area of physical chemistry, especially in the fields of electrochemistry and nanotechnology. He has received numerous national and international awards and recognitions due to his contributions to knowledge. He has been a visiting professor and researcher at different universities and scientific institutions in Spain, France and Germany.

He has extensive managerial experience. He was the Director of the Instituto de Investigaciones Fisicoquímicas Teóricas y Aplicadas (2010), President of the CONICET (2012-2015), National Deputy for the Province of Buenos Aires and Vice President of the Commission for Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of the National Chamber of Deputies (2017-2019), and National Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (Dec. 2019 – Sept. 2021).

Gustavo Medele

Vice President of the Board

He is an Electronic Engineer graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Canada, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix, USA. He has been the Vice President of Services at YPF since July 2021. He has occupied several managerial and operational positions at Schlumberger. He held various positions in Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Central America from 1995 to 2007. He was the Vice President of Personal for the Middle East and Asia from 2007 to 2009, where he was responsible for HR development policies, benefits and external relations in 35 countries, from Egypt to New Zealand. He served as Vice President of Operations in Mexico from 2009 to 2013, where he led the operations and integrated projects business areas for Central America. He was the General Manager for Latin America from 2013 to 2018, when he was appointed as Project Manager for the United States. He served as Vice President of Human Resources at YPF S.A. from February 2021 to July 30, 2021.

Santiago Sacerdote

Managing Director

He is an Industrial Engineer (ITBA) and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policies (URJC, Spain). He has been Y-TEC’s Managing Director since May 2015 and a member of its Board since its creation (2012). He is also a member of the Investment Committee of YPF Ventures. He served as the Vice President of Technological Affairs at CONICET (2012-2015) and was a member of its Board as a representative of the industrial sector (2010 – 2016). He was the Director of Programs and Services of the Unión Industrial Argentina (2006 – 2012), leading its Department of Innovation, Science and Technology. He previously had extensive experience as a strategy and business management consultant at several companies.

Ana María Franchi

Permanent Director

She is a Senior Researcher at CONICET and Director of the Centro de Estudios Farmacológicos y Botánicos (CEFYBO, CONICET-UBA). She has been the President of CONICET since December 2019. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a PhD in Chemical Sciences from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of the Universidad de Buenos Aires. Her research subject is Reproductive Health and has focused on physiopathology of pregnancy and birth. She specialized in the situation of women in Science and Technology institutions. She has published more than 160 peer-reviewed articles in various scientific journals and directed twelve doctoral theses.
She is the president of the Red Argentina de Género, Ciencia y Tecnología and a member of the group Ciencia y Técnica Argentina. She was the president of the Sociedad Argentina de Investigación Clínica, the coordinator of the Technical Evaluation Committee of the Program of Quality of Life and Economic and Social Development and of the Committee of Medical Sciences II of the FONCYT of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. She has also been a member of the National Evaluation Committee of Health, Science and Technology (SACyT) of the Ministry of Health of Argentina.

Felix Gregorio Requejo

Permanent Director

He obtained a PhD in Physics from the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Exact Sciences of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in 1993. He received part of his postgraduate training at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry in Madrid and conducted postdoctoral studies in the Division of Materials Science at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (California, USA). He currently works as the Director of the Instituto de Investigaciones Fisicoquímicas Teóricas y Aplicadas, where he developed the first X-Ray Absorption Laboratory in the country. He is a Principal Researcher at CONICET and a Professor at the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Exact Sciences of the UNLP. He has actively participated in synchrotron light research activities at several laboratories in various countries. Ha has authored more than 80 international scientific publications in his specialty and participated in numerous projects related to the field of nanotechnology, collaborating with various national and international institutions.

Federico Damián Ariel

Permanent Director

Independent Researcher at CONICET and professor at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral. In 2011, he received a fellowship from EMBO to carry out postdoctoral studies in France, where he specialized in the fields of plant epigenetics and non-coding RNAs. He has led his research group at the Instituto de Agrobiotecnología del Litoral, located in Santa Fe, since 2016. He was distingued with the Estímulo awards from the Academia Nacional de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales (2018), Fima Leloir (2019) and Hermann Burmeister from the Academia Nacional de Ciencias (2020). He has coordinated the Science and Technology Against Hunger program, intended to develop RNA-based bio and nanotechnology to replace synthetic agrochemicals, since 2021.

He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from the Universidad de Buenos Aires. He holds a Master’s degree and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His field of research is computational mechanics, where he has authored numerous publications. He is an Emeritus Professor at the UBA and a member of the Academia Nacional de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales. He has received various awards such as the UBA 200 recognition to career trajectory, the “Houssay Trayectoria 2013” award from the Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología and a merit diploma from the Konex Foundation in 1993 and 2003. He was the Managing Director of Tenaris Industrial Research Center for 12 years and a partner in the consulting firm Sim&Tec for 13 years. He has been a member of Y-TEC’s Board of Directors since June 2020.

With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, he participated and led numerous exploration and development projects in different South American basins for YPF, Pecom Energía of Argentina and Venezuela, and Petrobras Argentina. Joined Y-TEC in 2014 as a senior geology consultant, and later served as Business and Technology Transfer Manager.

Y-TEC is developing technologies for the current and future energy industry. Its missions state the company’s vision on those strategic areas.

The Lithium Mission develops new technologies for the exploitation of the entire value chain of this resource. It drives national industrialization through the production of batteries, cells, active materials and electrolyte, in cooperation with the national scientific system, universities, organizations and innovative companies.
